High school senior near Seattle, headed toward engineering. Most of my time goes to FIRST Robotics, where I design and build competition machines that have to actually work and help lead the team behind them.
I'm a rising senior at Shorewood High School, and I'm planning to study engineering. Robotics is what got me into it. I'm co-captain and design lead for FIRST Robotics Team 359, so I run the design side of the team. That means doing the CAD and mechanical work to turn rough ideas into a robot that can survive a full competition season. I'm on the team remotely, so a lot of my job is keeping the build organized and on schedule from a few time zones away.
What I like about engineering is the same thing I like about robotics. I like the part where a design stops being a drawing and you actually find out if it works. I'd rather build something and test it than just talk about it, and I usually stick with a project until it's done and running.
